Can anyone tell me what it will cost to replace the support post on the front overhang porch. It is a wide area, house being 3300 sq. ft. The current post have evidence of termites, although the house was tented when I bought it in Nov 2003. There also seems to be a slight sagging inthe middle of the overhang. The house was built in 1978 two story home. I have been quoted about $6,500. Does this seem right?

Do you mean the beam that supports the front edge of the roof horizontally on a hip roof? I imagine that its replacement could be expensive. How long is the beam?
In any event, you should get three quotes from contractors who have done the same work. References from them should give you further information about how satisfied the customers were.
If the house was treated for termites, there may be a continuing termite bond in force that would pay for the repair of termite damage subsequent to the treatment.
