Hi everyone:
My husband and I just purchased a new home in the Orlando area that comes with a fireplace and chimney already in place. We have no experience with any kind of fireplaces, let alone a wood burning one. He has no desire in using or maintaining a wood fireplace. My question becomes what is our options on putting in a different type of fireplace? Since we will use it very little due to the climate, should this also be a consideration as to what type we should put in? Thanks for any suggestions.
MoW.

You could close the damper and decorate around it. Replacing a fireplace is somewhat expensive.

Down here I look at them as just a mess. it dont get that cold at all. Like said fill it in. There are electric logs that look like they are burning. You could put them in there . For now make sure the damper is closed tight. You dont say what you have for heat there Gas or electric you could go gas logs also

MoW welcome to the south
