I recently rceived my aunts' old cedar chest. Unfortunately she painted the exterior only with white & gold paint. The interior is not painted. Not quite sure what to use to remove paint without harming the wood and ruining the cedar smell. And what would you suggest I use to preserve the wood in it's natural state. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Chris R. :)

A good paint stripper followed by a sanding should bring it back. Hopefully the paint is just on the surface and will strip easily. Then I would sand with a 60 grit paper followed by a 120 or 150 grit. Wipe it out with a tack cloth and you should be good to go. :)
