ok i replaced our toilet 4 months ago and 3 days ago a strong sewer order started so i replaced the wax ring , checked the vent for blockage , checked under house for leaks everything looks fine
when we moved in the floor had some sort of hard vinyl flooring and the old toilet had be leaking because the wax ring was gone was house was built in 1950 toilet was original so i checked the floor the wood didnt look really bad and the old vinyl was ruined and i couldnt get it out so i put 1/8 inch plywood over it and used 1/2 screws then layed my vinyl tile
im stumped
thanks in advance for any help

If the water is standing in the bowl and there is an odor, usually it will be coming from underneath from a wax ring leak or sewer-water soaked flooring).
You may have to use a thicker wax ring or replace that old flooring, if you eliminate all else.
Good Luck!

Have to go with Mikes answer. Sounds like you trapped the odor when you covered up the old floor.Humidity level could have started the process. Good luck and post back.

Maybe and probably.
However, it could be that you've just used one of the thinner wax rings, and that little bit of additional height in the flooring is allowing that wax ring to not fully seal and to leak gas (best case scenario). Just try a thicker wax ring first.
For the best wax ring seal, the flange is supposed to sit flush on top of the finished floor level with only the thickness of the flange above floor level.
You'll have to pull the toilet anyway to check it, so stuff a rag or old towel in the closet bend and check out that flooring (worst case scenario). I would use pressure-treated plywood to replace it, if necessary.
Good Luck!
