I have heard of people using a shop-vac to unclog drains, especially when a foreign object is the cause of the drain. Any of you have much luck with this? Thanks!

Shop-vacs can work sometimes, especially to clear curlers, brushes. etc. from a toilet bowl trap.
Usually, a shop-vac won't clear a hard clog way down a drain pipe, however. A plumber's snake is best for that.
You can always give a shop-vac a shot, and then go to the snake if that doesn't do it.
