The bottom burner on my 1989 Microwave/Oven wall unit (JKP62G *k3) quit heating. I removed it and had it tested at my local appliance part dealer. It was fine. I then purchased a new thermostat to replace the old one, which I assumed was not working.

Before running the lead into the oven cavity, I hooked up all the wires to the new thermostat and I turned the oven on. The bottom element heated up. I thought I was in business so I threaded the probe in through the side of the oven, bolted in the thermostat, and closed everything up.

Guess what? The bottom element is not heating up again no matter where I set the thermostat. Any clues? I'm trying to fix it myself for cheaper, otherwise I'm just about at the point of buying a new oven.
