Hello
I live in al older condo building and I noticed that my tub has these redish/pinkish stains that acumulate over time. I can usually clean them off with regular bath cleaners but I was just wondering what they were.

Im guessing it might be that my pipes are old and its rust. I hope someone can help me out. Also, if it is rust, is that a bad thing?

thanks

Sounds like galvanized pipe and it does rust after a while. Have any of your neighbors had this problem? Might check your water heater also. May have to drain it down some to get sediment out of the bottom of the tank that gets waterborn when you use the hot water. Good luck and post back.

Id think more its all in the water is all. Home depot and lowes have RUSTAWAY. It will take it off for you. You should see what some of the wells down here can do like turn the wall red.

I will ask around and see if people have the same problems. I hope its just the hot water because I use the cold water for drinking. If it is the heater, I will call our association.
