yup.. I am now a member of the I hate Maytag society. I have an old MAH3000, and it followed the pattern and went into the won't spin mode.
Thanks to all the great posts, I was able to take it apart and have a look.
R11 was cooked... not sure about Q6.
I taped off the little switch button and ran a cycle... spun right up to full speed.
Tried to get the PHA from maytag but they have decided to be completely un-helpful.... so to heck with them i will fix it myself.
What I need are 1: tips on how to solder a new R11 in.
2: a pic showing the fabric softener/ bleach dispenser mehanism.... when I took the top off a little spring was lying there and I don't know where it goes!
3:how do I check Q6.... where do I put the meter leads?
4: when I ran it thru the cycle I sat there and watched everything.... the wax motor never budged (lock never locked).... when is it supposed to do it's thing? only at spin time?

You are going to need a new wax motor, it caused the transistor Q6 to fry and that burnt out R11. Try this place, http://members.shaw.ca/gavb/#Parts . They have more information about R11. The wax motor is supposed to get 120 volts but with Q6 and R11 cooked it can't so the door will never lock and the washer can't spin. Doc E

figured I would need a new wax motor as well..... they seem to be cheap $$.
I want to get one that wont cause this again! I guess there is a "good" wax motor and a "not so good" one ( black plunger vs brown).... I remember reading about what to get but can't find the info now..... any help on that?
