I plan to install a gas fireplace at my cabin this fall/summer. I only go there on weekends for a few days at a time and do not keep the cabin heated when I am not there. The cabin is here in Minnesota where it gets very cold in the winter. Should I get the fireplace with the Intellifire pilot system or the standing pilot light? What are the pros and cons of each in an unheated cabin? I do have electricity at the cabin.
Thanks for your advice!

Hi,
I have a similar question. I live in Canada, where we can sometimes get down to -10F in winter, and I'll be installing a gas fireplace in my always heated living room.
Dealer says not to use intellifire (and use always on pilot instead) because I'll get cold and frost in the unit when not in use.
Any comments?
Thanks
Pierre

FYI, I did install the fireplace with the standing pilot light. But I turn the pilot light off when I leave. It is very easy to relight. I am VERY happy with it! Good luck to you! As stated previously, I am in Minnesota, where it also gets very cold.
