Hello, I'm writing for some advice. I have a condo built in 1991, with what I assume is the original garbage disposal, and I've lived here for three years. About a week ago, I tried to turn in on, and I initially heard a low buzz/hum, as if it were trying to work. I turned it off, then I tried again, and there was nothing, and it's been that way since then. No recent things have happened - there was a 5.2 earthquake about a month prior, but that's it. The circuit breaker was checked and working. Any ideas?

Sounds like it bit the dust. There should be a nut on the bottom of the unit that you can turn with a wrench (normally used for clogs) that you can try turning (with the switch OFF).If that doesn't produce any change then you'll probably have to get a new one. Good luck and post back.
