Hi, we recently converted our crawlspace into a full basement. In the process we actually went ahead and lifted the house a few feet such that the basement is actually half under and half above ground. Anyway, as the finishing comes along we're wondering how to go about heating it.
One option I've considered is opening up the existing ducts that run right to the floor above in the pre-existing house and just extending that down into the basement. The furnace we have should be able to handle the extra load.
I also thought about installing baseboard heating, but I don't really know much about it so that's still just an idea.
While searching online for ideas a lot of sites mentioned some floor heating solutions that sounded pretty neat but looked prohibitively expensive for the entire basement. (about 1075 sq. ft)
Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated, thanks!

why do you think the current furnace is big enough? extra 1075 sq ft is a lot of load.
infloor radiant heat is the best way to go. i have installed them on a dedicated gas water heater, with a flow pump operated from a wall tstat. the most confortable heat i have ever experienced.
there are instructions online i am sure, using PEX tubing
baseboard heat is the way to go if infloor is out, stressing the existing unit may cause excessive run time and possibly cooler temps upstairs
