It'll fill and agitate but will not empty or spin. Suspect a bad timer. Is there a way to definitize the exact piece that malfunctioned? Motor? Transmission?

The machine is 10 years old and has worked great in that time (except for a broken motor-to-tub connector a year ago that cost $140, because I was out of town and my wife called Sears to fix it).

Any/all help is appreciated,

Kerry

You might check the lid switch. When the washer goes into drain then spin, the lid must be closed and if the switch is bad it won't do either. The connector for the lid switch is inside the control panel (three wire white connector) you could make a jumper to test it. The center is ground ignore it and jump the outside two wires. Or test the switch with an ohm meter. Do it with the washer unplugged, then pug it in to test. Doc E
