our top load washer always stinks like musty clothes when it is agitating and filling with water.....when it is empty-no stink! help

Sounds like there is active mold, fill washer with hot water add 1 1/2 cup of bleach run washer with no clothes for approx 5 min. then turn off and let stand for 30 min. restart and let machine finish cycle.
