Hello:

I need to replace an old window in a basment. The cinderblock opening measures 32.5" W X 22.5 L. Do I need to build a wood frame to install a vinyl window (a size that will fit the opening) or can I nail in directly into the masonry using shims, and then caulk the cavity? Any recommentaion of type of nails to use, etc?

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

I have to do the same thing. I think you can do it either way. I intend to omit the wood frame and attach the windows using a masonry bit and Tapcon screws.
