We moved into a new house in January and recently discovered that our soaking tub flexes when it is filled with water. This causes a ~3/32" gap between the tile and the top of the tub, above the drain. The builder is trying to tell me that this is normal and that all he needs to do is caulk the gap.
Is this normal? I don't think there should be any flex in the tub and believe that they may not have set the tub properly.
I would appreciate a third party perspective on this. Thanks.

Sounds like they did not put a support board along the edge of the tub when they installed it.(or it was not fastened to the wall properly and it broke loose.) A friend of mine had same type of problem and did not want to pull the tub so we filled it as full as we could and then caulked it.Let it sit til the caulk cured and then drained it. This IS NOT the right way to do it.Make the contractor fix it. Good luck and post back.
