Yesterday the bake element on my 2yr old GE range burnt out(How long do they normally last?) I replaced it today however when I went to turn it back on I had nothing no top heating elements or the bake and bake elements would also not work the clock and lights work Could this be the circuit breaker for the 240 elements is blown and just the 110 breaker is still working? Thanks for helping Jim

The newer bake elements are not as well made as the older ones and tend to fail more often. A number of things can cause them to fail sooner, tinfoil under the element reflecting to much heat back, constant use, a weakness in the insulation inside the element, and a lot of other things. As far as the top elements and bake element not working, you could have only 120 volts to you range, enough to work the clock but not heat the elements. Check for a blown fuse or breaker that is bad or partially tripped. Check the plugin behind the range and the cord from it to the range. Check the wiring at the terminal block inside the range too. If you don't find the problem there, it might be the computer or wiring too it. Good luck with it and be carefull, 240 can be dangerous. Doc E
