My Kenmore icemaker makes one batch of ice and the shut off arm raises and shuts off the icemaker. There is no ice or any obstruction in the ice container touching the shut off arm. The icemaker was jammed before with a stray piece of ice, I took out the icemaker and let the ice melt and reinstalled it. Since then it raises the shutoff arm after every batch of ice. I have to manually lower the arm to get another batch of ice. Any suggestions?

I don't know if it is a modular or not, but I will tell you that the sensor arm or bail should return to the down position by itself. On modular ones, there maybe some moisture or frost that is keeping the arm from coming down by itself. You should be able to remove the front module ( kind of a brown plastic square with a white gear in the center, held in place by three gold colored screws.) The sensor arm should pull straight out ( it just pushes into the white plastic part). Once the module head is out, let it dry completely, then reassemble and see if it works. The older style of icemaker had a metal front and a spring return for the bail arm. Hope this helps. Doc E
