My toilet runs a few seconds every 10 minutes or so. I replaced the flapper. That didn't work I thought I might have calcium build up so I replace the overflow tube (which includes the part the flapper rests on) IT STILL RUNS!!! Any ideas?

When you replaced the flapper, did you check the seating surface it rests on? Try this: Pour a cup of coffee in the tank.Let it sit and see if the coffee seeps into the bowl. That way you know it is still the seal on the flapper. Clean the surface and you should be good to go.It is running because the level control (ball or tower type shutoff) tells it that the level is low.Good luck and post back.

I did check the seating surface (it's new - along with the flapper and overflow tube.) We don't have any coffee, so I'm using food coloring. I'll check it in the morning. Thanks!

You could be having the same problem I am having. Mine is leaking at the flush valve/tank seal.

I have had it off several times replacing the gasket and no dice I can't get it to quit leaking. I have replaced the flush valve with a new one/along with a new flapper. I've taken all of that back out to put in a new flush valve gasket in. The last time I did the new gasket I put rtv on the sealing surfaces and it still ended up leaking.

Is there a way to check for cracks? I don't see any that would account for the amount of water that leaks down the back side of the bowl.

I don't know this is your problem but it sounds like you are having the same symptoms. You may be able to just change your gasket and fix it.
