Right about when my toilet tank fills up, the float ball (at end of lever) jumps slightly, causing the water supply to open and close. Then, there is a wave action in the tank, causing the above to repeat. Its settles down and stops after about 30 seconds.

I think what causes the ball to jump is the sudden shut off of water supply, but I'm not sure. Help, I don't like my water supply to open and close abruptly and constantly!

The ball float controls the water shut-off. There should be a screw at the inlet end of the ball rod. Turn it clockwise and the ball will be forced down into the water. Have you checked to see if the ball has a leak and is partially filled with water and causing the aftershock you described? Good luck and post back.

This is a new tank with new refill set up, etc. I thought I may need to adjust something. Maybe I need to adjust water level lower. Right now I have it about an inch above recommended (1.6 gal level) because the toilet has not always flushed fully in the past (with the old tank). I've always had outhouse or "honey bucket" or lived in an apartment until now. Now I own my very own toilet, and am learning how to trouble shoot, etc.!

How about if I bent the lever (to the ball) down a bit?

You can bend the rod....thats what most do. Just make sure you grab it with both hands to keep from putting pressure on the filltube.
