Having a problem with an older GE fridge which has an icemaker designed to provide crushed or cube ice thru the door. Don't know how long since it worked properly. Hooked up water yesterday, water fills tray, icemaker immediately goes thru cycle to push ice out, and refills water. Flood in freezer!
Felt tray, isn't hot, so guess it's not the tray heater stuck on.
Fridge also runs too much and condensate forms on the back outer wall where the refrigerant line runs up to the evaporator coil. Can't find schematic. Don't understand GE products! Please help.

Most icemakers have a thermostat to control the harvest cycle. When the icemaker gets really cold the thermostat completes the circuit and the harvest cycle begins. When the ice mold gets warm enough the thermostat will open and a set of contacts or switch will allow the icemaker to finish the cycle and shut down untill the temperature is cold enough again and the harvest starts again. Either the thermostat is stuck on or one of the switches is. Something is keeping the cycle going. You will just have to do some checking. The fridge running too much? Is there frost anywhere in the freezer? You might have a defrost problem. Doc E
