In the past two months we have changed the water level switch and the water fill switch. After each new part the unit would work for a few weeks and then revert back to overfilling. The spin cycle seems to be making noise and the clothes are on the damp side. Now the timer will not stop in the off position and will continue into the next (permanent press) cycle. The only way to stop the unit is to manually push in the switch.

Have you replaced the water fill hose? The hose will run from the fill switch down to the lower part of the wash tub.

As for the timer, sounds like there's a contact may of been fried, and it's not breaking contact on the timer motor. If you are able to carefully take the timer apart, look for a char/burn/weld mark on the contact switch.. You may have to replace the timer itself.

I check the water hose line and she is fine. Also looked at the timer and there are no bad contacts. Does anybody have any other idea's on what
to check next?

You probably have a bad timer, when it goes from one cycle to the next and doesn't stop, the contacts inside the timer are sticking together. You should check out the price of a new timer and see if it is worth fixing. Sorry its not better news. Doc E

I have a maytag parts manual that shows two parts make up the timer. Do you have to buy the entire unit or just the timer portion? Anyone know the
current part numbers and prices?

Thanks,

John
