I took three deadbolts to have them re-keyed today. The Schlage on the front door worked fine. The Kwik Set on the back door worked fine until I put it in the door and screwed it in place. Once screwed in the lock is very tight and if I tighten it down all the way it will not turn at all. This is a lock that has to be locked or unnloced with the key from bothsides. The Weiser in the basement is not that kind of deadbolt but it does the same thing as the one on the back door when it's screwed in. Any ideas?

Make sure the timing is right-usually if you extend the bolt out of the door before putting the thumb turn and cylinder in, you will be ok.

Look for any chips that may have been dislodged when you removed the lock.

Loosen the screws (never fully tighten one before the other) and try shifting the one or the other side and try gradually tightening.
