How can I protect my wood floors from being damaged by my waterbed? I am assuming here that the weight of the water on the rough edges of the bed frame against the wooden floors could cause some decent damage.

i don't know what the "proper" fix would be, but i think you're right about it damaging (denting) your floor. if it were me, i would get a piece of carpet remnant, something dense with a short loop, and cut little squares (or whatever shape you need) and put them under each leg carpet-side down. that should provide enough cushion. maybe even layer several of them.
