I am looking for a temporary flooring option that can be applied over carpet (short nap). I live in an apartment and want something that looks like hardwood or simply nice flooring, but am stuck with old stained matted carpets.
I recall seeing a temporary flooring option on a DIY type show, but can't recall the name of the product.

If anyone knows of the name, or has a suggestion I would appreciate your help.

Thanks,

GS

Carpet is not an appropriate substrate material for any type of floor covering. Perhaps you could temporarily cover the carpet with area rugs. Since it is just temporary and probably a rental property, I would be hesitant to make any financial investment in the property. I recall a forum post where some college kids covered their old apartment carpet with painter's drop cloths which they had splattered with different colors of paint. What type of floor is under the carpet? Hardwood? Discuss the condition of the carpet and your options with your landlord.

I agree!

If your renting, you don't want to dump a load of cash and sweat into anything!

It could cost you even more when you move out!
