Hello, my husband and I plan on installing wood laminate on our first floor. There are rooms with ceramic tile and adjoining rooms with carpeting. I read that you can place wood laminates directly over ceramic tile, but that you should also use a padding first - one lady recommended 'Quick Walk' pad; another guy told me it's fine as long as it's a pretty smooth surface and to not worry about the grout between.

So we'll have 2 areas getting the wood laminates - the old carpeting area and the ceramic tile area. I was told to use reducer moulding to merge/blend these ex-"ceramic tile / carpet" areas.

Has anyone ever placed wood laminate over ceramic tile? Does it look fine?

Has anyone ever used reducer moulding? Is there a noticeable difference between the two areas?

If the tiles are lipped with high edges, your going to need to grind them down.

Huge grout lines, need to be filled.
