Greetings: Just finishing up my first month at my first house...we're wrapping up a couple asthetic projects, and one thing we've been itching to do is to swap out the navy-blue vinyl shutters (your standard louvered, wood-grained fastened-on vinyl shutters) with, ideally, black ones.
My question is...is it possible to paint these vinyl shutters? I've looked around, and buying new ones would cost about $40/pair (which isn't THAT expensive...especially if repainting them would make them look, well, repainted).
Just curious if anyone has done this and could suggest supplies to get them looking decent...or if repainting them is just too much of a hassle.
Thanks!

Try taking them off if you can. Then scuff sand them really good. You can paint them amd get them looking good. I would say spray them if at all possible

if this is the house you intend to live in for awhile then spend the 40 a pair for the new vinyl shutters.yes you can paint the old ones but you will spend money on paint and supplies plus the man hours on them and also you will need to repaint in the future to keep them looking good, thats inevitable.paint doesn't stick to plastic very well.buy the new black shutters, put em up and forget about em.
