Prefinished mahogany wood trim on interior of boat. Finish and wood in bad shape. Want to paint over with high gloss enamel.
Any tips on how to get a "smooth" finish without brush marks?? Want a professional look without having to hire the professional (low budget).

Use an oil-based paint. It will level much better than latex.

LOL good luck, you get what you pay for. ;)

1. Think I will also try additive to help level it out as well. Thanks for the "oil base" recommendation. Sounds like a good call.
2. Will try it in a hidden area first to see how good a job I can do. Boy, sure wish the ole' budget had some stretch in it for a "pro" to do the job but this boat was a basket case and have already spent a ton on mechanicals.
Like they say - "if you don't jump for the stars you will never even get your feet off the ground" so gonna go for it and see if I can do it.
Thanks a ton prowallguy.

Get some Penetrol made by the Flood company. Mix a little into the oil. It makes the oil flow/level very nicely, and extends its working time.
