hi all, tonight i tried to tackle painting my bathroom cabinets. not really thinking, i didn't do any research before i went about doing this. i purchased a semi-gloss paint and began painting the cabinets and the paint is reeeally streaky and leaks alot. i don't know if it's just not sticking to the cabinet well, or if it is just in need of another coat after drying. i stopped painting as i was worried about how the job was going.

i just did some research and am seeing that i should have sanded the cabinets before applying paint to them. this has set me into a panic. have i totally messed up my cabinets? is there anything i can still do? i'd really appreciate ANY help!

thanks so much.

Seeing 1 coat has been applied, let it dry and check for adhesion. If you can scrape it off with a fingernail, you may have problems. If it is adhered tight, I wouldn't worry, just recoat until it looks good.

thank you! i have been hearing different bits of advice here and there. someone said that since the cabinets were the the cabinets that came with the house when it was built, and already have a white coat on them, that i should take a paint remover to the cabinets to remove ALL the paint. i really don't want to have to do that if i don't have to. someone else said all i have to do is take sandpaper to the cabinets and then paint over them. i'm kind of struggling with what i should so. i've also decided to go with a lighter shade of paint than i had started with as it turned out much brighter than i had hoped it would. which do you think is the best way to go? i really do appreciate all of your help. :)

What was the outcome of the adhesion test?
