I am replacing my factory installed sliding glass doors with Anderson sliders, whats the procedure for a job like this, the door was just removed from a new home, do I need an instation kit or can I just take the old one out and put the new one in, they are both 72" X 80". The guy said they are 1500.00 doors and he was ready to put them in the dumpster. since he had an addition put on and did'nt need them. Joe

You need to remove the siding or trim around the inside and outside of the old sliders and remove the door, frame and all.
Run a bead of caulk around the outside of the rough framed opening before installing the new Andersen, especially where the bottom plate of the door frame sits (and under the flanges). I also would add flashing on the sides over the side flanges and then above the door over the top flange, under the trim or siding.
Use a level and beveled shims overlapped from both sides to square and plumb the door in the opening BEFORE nailing it. Re-trim the door.
Good luck!
