I have just moved into a new build house and am installing laminate flooring. I belive that we are supposed to leave a 7-10mm gap for exapntion ect, and this would normally be covered by the skirting board. However are skirts are already installed and seemingly taking them off will be alot of extra work.
Anybody have a workaround? Maybe some kind of small triangle cornice that can be attached to the skirt and rest over the 7mm gap onto the laminate?
Many thanks

Ya, it is called ¼ round. Shoe molding looks like ¼ round, but one side is ½" and the other side is ¾"
I prefer ¾" - ¼ round.
The door jambs get undercut so the laminate slide under them.

Thanks very much, :) are there any problems with using this rather than lifting the boards?

just be sure to nail the quarter-round into the baseboard, and not into the flooring! the flooring has to remain "free" to "float"! :)

Installed the first room last night! Was OK learned alot of lessons in that room anyways the so rest of the house should be easier.
-- Annette will leave it floating alright. :)
The quarter-round or whatever its called here (Ireland) Actually looks pretty good against the pine floor.
