Hi,
I have a brick built terrace (uk) circa 1920, and when i bought it it had a modern gas fire on the ground floor, in the room above it the fireplace in the chimney breast has been boarded over.
I would like to reinstate the fireplace (but not insert an actual fire) in the first floor room, so was thinking that i can remove the boarding, what i am worried about is the fumes from the fire below.
Are these likely to be taken up past the fire in a seperate sealed flue?(in which case i can go ahead and uncover the fire or should i be more careful and get an expert in?
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
