I would like to lay a brick patio in my back yard. It would be about 10' x 10'. I understand I need about 2" of gravel for a base, and then about 1" - 1 1/2" of sand, and finally the brick. My biggest concern is will the ground shift over time causing the patio to not look good. I live in NW Iowa.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I'm thinking that in NW Iowa FROST is going to be an issue. You'll probably need a lot more than just 2" of compacted gravel for a base.
