I live in NY out on Long Island. I purchased a house that was built in the 50's and i'm doing a total renovation. I stripped the house sheathing (old planks) and replaced with plywood because the house had old insulation and i had some ant/termite/ and water damage. I have an area where the sill plate was damaged by either termites, and/or water. Only about 12' of sill plate is damaged. I'll be jacking (supporting) that part of the house so i can replace the damaged wood. My question is:
When i removed a piece of sill, i noticed it was just resting on the concrete foundation. There was no aluminum/copper flashing between the concrete and sill found on newer homes. Should i place some flashing in the area where i'm going to repair or should i keep it consistant with the rest of the house?

Ok, forget about an answer. I bought some supplies today with a roll of aluminum being one of them. When i got home, i noticed the girl didn't ring me up for the aluminum and so i didn't have any. I just went ahead with the repair without using any flashing. Oh well, perhaps next time !!
