Ok, it's time to stain the deck again! This will be the third time in four years staining the deck boards. What is the best overall type of deck stain? oil,acrylic,synthetic, solid, semi transparent? Deck faces east with about 4 hours of sun. Looking for durability more than anything else. Any particular brand thats recommended?

Welcome, and we're glad you found us!

If you look back through this forum, you'll notice that our brands of choice are Silkens, SuperDeck, Cabot's, Wolman's, ... The stuff you will go to a paint store to get and pay about $30 a gallon for.

We've come to realize, it's not how much you pay, it's how often you PAY IT, and how long it will prolong the life of your deck. (Stain/sealer is CHEAP compared to replacing the deck!!)

i am also looking for a good stain for a pressure treated deck and none of the brands you have mentioned are available around here.thats right! I guess i need some more varietys or somthing.these people have never heard of these brands or at least don't stock any of them. i need to get mine stained.thanks for any help.
