I have cleaned my wood deck that was previously sealed with Floods CWF a few years ago. Now I have light and dark spots. I tested a small area with semi-trans. stain but it still looks light and dark in places. I was considering a solid color stain to give me a nice even coated look all over the deck. What is the best product and are there any real cons to doing this. thanks for any help

Three questions?
What kind of wood is the deck, and what cleaner was used? And how was it cleaned?
It sounds like some of the CWF is still on it and it should be stripped.

My deck is pressure treated decking board. I cleaned by using a deck cleaner from a local home improvement store. I sprayed it on and scubbed with a deck brush. thanks

Some possible reasons the deck has light/dark areas:
The cleaner contained bleach (sodium hypochlorite) - it has a tendancy to bleach the color from the wood.
The former CWF was toned - it did not strip all the color out of the wood.
Hand scrubbing can leave "high or low'" spots - a pressure washer can make the deck more evenly cleaned.
A darker oil base stain may cover the spots. Avoid solid color stains that are 'film forming' (latex, acrylic, etc). They will be more of a maintenance problem down the road due to peeling.
