I am planning on purchasing a 12'X10' retractable awning and instead of installing it on the wall, I am considering purchasing the roof mounting brackets and putting it on the roof instead. My concern would be that the unit is pretty heavy (I will call the company...but I think it is between 150-200lbs). It comes with 3 brackets...but I will purchase one more from the company (Galaxyshade.com) if they will sell it to me. Does anyone have any experience with retractable awnings? What should I be concerned with other than the weight?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Weight and cost are about your only 2 concerns. Ask the mfgr. what they recommend to roof mount the awning. Where I live, there is an issue of snow load, and retractable awnings simply don't meet it. Therefore, I won't put one up.
