First time posting, please be gentle. What is the best way of attaching a newel post to a concrete porch? I thought of using expansion bolts on a metal base and attaching the post to it. Would this be secure enough?
Thanks

I ran into the much the same situation when attaching my 6x6 posts to concrete piers for my deck. Best options seem to be drilling the appropriate hole with a hammer drill, then setting the attachment bolt into epoxy which is said to hold better than the expansion connectors. Having had to patch holes in the past that expansion bolts made (inexperience being the problem, I assume), the epoxy fix sounds less risky for a newell post that will be in plain sight. Hope this helps...
