Hi guys, can anyone tell me please - is it okay to construct a deck 4m x 5m directly onto a firm concrete base without the need for supporting posts ? ie. can you lay the frame straight onto the concrete ? My only concern would be water ingress into the frame ??
Thanks for your help
Rob

First maghouse, welcome to DoItYourself.com and the deck forum.

Assuming that the slab is solid and in good shape, there's no reason why you can't. But I would use something like a Simpson post base (ABA, ABE, ABU) and let the joists rest in that. This would keep your wood joists an inch above the concrete. Drainage wouldn't be an issue, and the joists won't rot because of wood-to-concrete contact.
