Hello.

I tried hooking up a friend's DVD/VCR player that just came back from the shop for being fixed of irrelevant problems.

Last week it was hooked up, worked fine in every known way.

This week I connected a s-video cable to try and even further enhance the DVD picture quality. Once I got it all hooked up, the audio worked, but the picture was scrambled, almost like when you would hook up a DVD player through a VCR and the scrambling was similar to the copy protection system.

A little while later, I gave up on the s-video cable, and connected it EXACTLY like it was, back with the multi-colored s-video plugs. I wasn''t able to see anything but a black screen when I was playing a DVD, the sound was perfect however, and a video on the DVD/VCR played flawlessly. There are no menu options to change input interface either. After spending several hours changing the s-video plugs around to every possible position, to no avail, I gave up.

So to sum it up, everything is hooked up correctly, I can play a video fine, picture and sound. DVD plays with no picture, but the sound works fine.

This is a Toshiba DVD/VCR, only about a year old. Anyone having trouble with these? Or can you offer any advice? I'd greatly appreciate it and so would my friend.

Thanks for any help.
