I've seen different "tips" on here about cleaning a cloged kitchen drain. I have one now. A double sink with a disposer in one. A plunger and hot water do not work. Water just shifts from one sink to the other although with some fancy handwork I can get the disposal sink empty (but not the line) and pour hot water in. Still no luck. My snake has never worked as I have too long a line and too many curves. I usually have to call plumber but that takes time which is more valuable to me then the money I am paying) How can I rid myself of this problem once and for all?

Don try a product called Pequa sold at most home improvement stores, some people are dead against liquid openers but this one really works,I have used it,its only around $5.00 for a half gallon so if it does not work your not out much, just let the plumber know that you used it if you wind up calling one.Good luck.

YOU NEED TO PLUG OFF ONE SIDE OF THE SINK WHEN YOU PLUNGE,YOU ARE NOT SENDING ANY FORCE TO THE STOPPAGE IF YOU DONT,GO UP ON THE ROOF AND DROP A MARBLE DOWN THE STACK OVER THE KITCHEN SINK,IF YOU HEAR A SPLASH YOU NEED TO RUN THE DRAIN FROM THE ROOF IF THAT IS POSSIBLE.

The plunger will do no good if the blockage is done the line.

Droping a marble down the drain is a dumb idea, blow into the vent if there is back pressure then you know the blockage is down the line.

THATS CORRECT, JUST WRAP YOUR MOUTH AROUND
THAT THREE INCH STACK AND BLOW, ALTHOUGH
YOU MAY WANT TO USE A LITTLE A-1 SAUCE, IT
CUTS THAT SEWER TASTE.

The most restricted point in most double sink drains is the tee that joins the 2 bowl drains together. Most of these tees have a baffle in them that really reduces their inside diameter. One way to eliminate that tee (if you have the room under the sink to do it)is to install seperate traps for each bowl, then join the 2 waste arms in a wye before they enter the wall. This makes the entire drain a full 1-1/2" I.D.

Double trapping is against code.

You can not double trap any fixture.

If you don't know the code and can't fallow it then don't answer the question PERIOD.

Here is my idea, worked for me with a bathroom sink. Pour one cup of baking soda into the drain, then add one cup of bleach. Top off with hot water. My sink had to sit for about 12 plus hours but the drain is now great. Drains better than ever.
