The house that we just purchased has a pantry or work space off of the kitchen. It is and old house and the wood counters in this space need to be refinished. They have some sort of tar spots and chunks all over. How do I remove that and restore the wood? Please help :confused:

Have you thought of trying a lacquer thinner or MEK? At this point, trying anything is a gamble as you don't know what it is and we can't see it.

I always say, prepare for the worse in these types of situations. If it comes off and you can finish it, great! If not, time to replace countertop and we aren't talking allot of LF in this area.
