I live in a raised ranch house with 1.5 baths on first floor. I'd like to know how big of a job it would be to install a shower\toilet in the basement. The outlet pipe for the sewage\drainage exits the foundation through the laundry room wall. It is at or about 5 feet high standing next to it.

I'm trying to find out what I can expect to hear from a contractor on what all is necessary to be done to get the basic plumbing for a shower drain and one for a toilet.

Thanks.

Bill,
You'll need an ejector pump, a 2" shower trap and drain and at least a 3" closet bend for the toilet (built-in trap) properly vented.
Check with your local Building Inspection Department for local code. You'll need a permit and inspections for the record anyway, if you ever plan to sell your home in the future.
Good Luck!
Mike
