Has anyone used a commercial firm to convert VCR's to DVD format? What are the pro's & con's?

I've thought about it, and forgot about it.

A dvd will not improve the inferior 240+/- lines of resolution of a vhs tape.
I've got tapes from 1981 and they still play okay. As long as vcr's are dirt cheap, and available, I'll leave the tapes alone.

Now, if you want to dvd record a current digital dish or cable signal that's another story. Just wish I could record HD.
