I have a teak dinning room table that has scrathes and heat stains on it. Can teak be sanded down and refinished the same way oak and other wood furniture is? Scratch polish and teak oil has not helped at all.

Having a table with a finish on it requres that the finish be stripped; then any stain and finish applied.

Stripping will remove all the finish whereas sanding may not. Then you can apply any stain desired, then apply a clear finish. Teak can be challenging to finish because of its natural oils. Wipe the surface quickly with acetone or lacquer thinner to knock down the surface oil and apply the finish. It will bond before the oil returns to the surface.

Hope this helps.
