I have just installed frameless cabinets in my kitchen, and thought I could settle for a laminate countertop, but I really want a ceramic tile countertop. The question is: does anyone have any ideas about how to cover the 3/4" plywood "sub" countertop? I could use a wooden trim piece, but that would be the only wood in the kitchen, and I think that would look kind of out of place. I haven't found ceramic tile edge pieces that would work because it would wrap around over my cabinet doors.

You may post here or email me directly at cherylkf@e-garfield.com

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :D

If you apply the ¼ inch cement backer board to the top of the ¾ plywood that would make it 1 inch plus the tile bed would make it about 1 ¼ . this would allow placement of a v-cap tile over the edge of the counter. Check to see if the tile you have chosen has trim accessories with their line and get a cap tile and build up as needed. Good Luck. P.S. the backer board is required for a proper installation. ;)

You can use an aluminum piece designed for it too:
