My wife was watching the HGTV channel again and now she wants one of those fancy over the range microwave/convection ovens. Does anyone have any experience with these units and if so, what is a reliable brand?

We are moving to a new house with just a range hood exhaust fan arrangement. I know a new dedicated circuit will have to be installed--but I want to know if they are worth the $600-700.

Thank you, Brad

There is something that is just as good or better.. It's called GE Advantium Microwave Oven (Over the range).

They do a great job, and I have a few co-workers who owns them and swears by them.

I rent right now, but when I get my own home, I will get one in place.

Here is a breif info on it..

Speedcook technology — Delivers oven-quality food up to four times faster than a conventional oven

Multiple cooking modes — Combine four ovens in one with speedcook, traditional, sensor microwave and warming options for a perfect second oven!

Installation — Allows placement over a countertop, range or cooktop and plugs into any standard 120-volt/15-amp outlet.
Stainless steel interior — Durable surface that cleans quickly with a simply wipe of a towel

Halogen Cooktop Lighting — Brilliant, natural-looking lighting illuminates every inch of the cooking surface

Two-Speed, 300-CFM Venting System — Quickly removes smoke and steam from the cooktop

Sensor cooking controls — Automatically adjust the time and power for perfect cooking results..

This unit is not priced that much more than a regular microwave/convention oven. This unit will cook a little bit faster than the convection model.

GE is the only one who sells this model. it been around about 5 years and been secssful unit for them.

It may be alot of money up front, but well worth it when there has been time you wish you'd had a 2nd oven.. or don't want to heat up that big oven for a small chicken pot pie.
