So I have a feeling my heating element is going out, sometimes it takes several tries to dry completely, sometimes it does great.
Where should I start? Is there some place to get a diagram of the insides so I can locate the element before I start tearing it apart?

Thanks

Hello: Hammerhead

Try reading the electric dryer forum topic note in this forum. Should have the cause and solution already addressed.

Also be sure the washer is spinning correctly thus removing excess water from heavy materials like towels. Improper washer water removal will leave excess water in the heavy material fabrics. Which in turn places a higher burdon on the dryer.

Also possible the heating element(s) are weak glowing. Thus not providing enough heating for heavy loads or large loads.

May also be the vent hoods internal baffle door. May not be opertional at all times or not opening fully. Check it for proper operation, etc.

Additional Help and Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for problem possibilities, solving methods, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, downloadable repair manuals, etc which may be available online.

Search the manufacturers web site for a downloadable version of the owners or service manual. The file will be a pdf file opened with Adobe, which also needs to be downloaded first but worth having once obtained.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and dealers are listed in the phone book.

Check back on your question several more times. Other members posting replies in this forum topic may offer you additional advice, ideas, suggestions, test and or repair methods.
