I'd always heard that bathrooms should have semi-gloss paint on the walls/ceilings, I guess because of moisture, and perhaps semigloss repels it better. Any truth to this? Our builder says I'm wrong and he proceeded to use flat paint...

Yes, semi-gloss repels water a little better than flat. Your builder said no because he didn't want to buy good paint, they are notorious for using junk paint to make a quick buck.

Thanks, pro, that's what I figured. This instance was one of about 50 he cheaped me on, but probably the least serious. Thanks again.

Even the best quality flat paint will burnish when rubbed. Definitely not a good choice for bathrooms, children's rooms, kitchens, etc.

Thanks, Art. I know what you mean-I tried to clean small places and the stuff rubbed off, making a bigger mess. Guess I'll wait until I run out of touch up and then redo it with a semigloss.
Thanks.
Thanks.
