I am planning a ceramic tile shower stall in a new construction. I'm comfortable with the framing, tiling, and plumbing. What I'm having trouble with is the floor drain itself. What products are available to ensure a seal between my mortarbed/tile to the floor drain? I'm planning to use membrane over mortarbeb rather than a shower pan. I appreciate any info I can gather.
Thanks, Tom from northern MN.

THERE IS A DRAIN DESIGNED FOR A SHOWER PAN APPLICATION, IT HAS WEEP HOLES TO CATCH ANY WATER THAT MAY FIND ITS WAY THRU THE TILE GROUT, THE OUTER LIP OF THE DRAIN SHOULD BE COUNTERSUNK ABOUT A 1/16 OF AN INCH BELOWE THE PLYWOOD SUBFLOORING, REMOVE THE 3 BOLTS IN THE DRAIN AND RUN THE PAN MATERIAL OVER THE DRAIN THEN CUT OUT THE CENTER TO WHERE THE PAN MATERIAL EXTENDS OVER THE RIM OF THE DRAIN ABOUT A QUARTER OF AN INCH JUST SO IT DOESENT COVER THE WEEP HOLES,ONCE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DRAIN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. (IT IS ALSO ADJUSTABLE UP AND DOWN)
