Recently my dishwasher has stopped emptying the water after it completes the cycle. Any starting point or advice would be welcome.
THanks,

Hello: jeepers

Possible the pump is defective or the timer control not advancing to that cycle or making the internal contacting of the points.

Read the manufacturers online web site for problem possibilities, solving methods, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, downloadable repair manuals, etc which may be available online.

Search the manufacturers web site for a downloadable version of the owners or service manual. The file will be a pdf file opened with Adobe, which also needs to be downloaded first but worth having once obtained.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and dealers are listed in the phone book.

Hello,
Did you or anyone recently install a garbage disposal?

yes, I did just replace the disposal.
Although it was a side step due to the dishwasher. I undid the connection at the top of my disposal and found it was clogged. When I undid this connection the inlet portion of the disposal broke off!! But the dishwasher was not emptying prior to this.
Since I have posted my original question I have taken the complete pump assembly apart and cleaned all of the plumbing etc... that leads out of the dishwasher. I have also taken the pump assembly and motor off and checked the pump, it does pump water. I believe that the switch is not advancing to the last sequence in the cycle.

Hello: jeepers

You're on the right track now. Timer is not likely advancing to that pump cycle, as I suggested. Move timer slowly and carefully in an attempt to get it into the pump cycle and verify activation of pump.

If the timer activates the pump when turning it manually, timer not doing so automatically, timer replacement is required.
